The fleeting “Club Deportivo Mencey” of

In 1947, the town of Barranco Hondo already had a perfectly organized Canarian wrestling team, although not federated, since on July 5 of that year the newspaper El Día announced the program of the “ Festival of the Holy Christ of Good Death ” that was going to be celebrated in said town, during which, on the 13th: “ At 6 in the afternoon, Canary Islands fights between the teams from Araya and this town .”

In that same year, said team was legalized, thus giving rise to the first federated Canarian Wrestling club of Barranco Hondo and the entire municipality of Candelaria, the “Club Deportivo Mencey”, to which we Email Marketing List dedicate this article. Civil Government of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, just one month before the “CL Arguama”, from Igueste de Candelaria, and two months before the “CL Tinerfe”, also from Barranco Hondo. Curiously, the “Mencey” had such a short-lived career that it was limited to just over two months, in which it drafted its regulations, carried out the entire administrative process for its registration and played a match, as it was immediately replaced by the “ Tinerfe”, to which its fighters passed and which did have a long history.
